Positive Relationships

Additional Income: Whether it be leasing or selling your land for renewable energy development, your land will provide additional income for you and your family.

Enhanced Land Value: Renewable energy development can increase the value of the land which can attract investors and potential buyers. The increased value can be advantageous for you if you and your family decides to lease or sell the land in the future.

Environmental Contributions: Renewable energy development is resource sensitive as it often requires little water, emits zero emissions of any kind, and is always designed with its local natural resources in mind.

Local Economy: Construction and maintenance of the project will require workers from the local community which contributes to the local economy and provides jobs to the local community.

Maximize Land Utility: Renewable energy projects such as solar farms can be designed and constructed to allow for many existing agricultural and recreational uses, all the while allowing for continuing generation of energy on the same area as well.

How Projects Are Developed

Site Identification and Acquisition: A suitable site is identified and either a lease or purchase agreement is reached

Initial Design: Preliminary reviews of the site will be conducted to determine the parameters of the site. Experienced engineers will then take the information and define what the project will look like and how it will operate.

Interconnection: A process will be initiated to study how the project will be designed and connected to the electric grid. This process usually takes months to years.

Permitting: This is the process to obtain federal, state, and local approvals to construct and operate the project. The process typically requires on the ground surveys and desktop studies. This process takes months to years to complete.

Community Engagement: Throughout the development process the project developer will engage with the community stakeholders to keep them informed and answer their questions, all the while building a healthy relationship with the local stakeholders.

Procurement: Up to 12 months prior to construction it is time to begin acquiring equipment and services to ensure a quality and safe project can be constructed and operate.

Financing: Energy projects require a significant amount of money. In order to finance a project of this magnitude the developer will partner with institutional and banking partners to bring about the capital required.

Construction: Capable contractors will begin construction once all development and financing milestones are achieved. Construction usually takes up to 12 months to complete and provides an important benefit to the community where the workers are sourced from.

Operation: Once the project is generating clean, emission free energy, the energy will travel along the transmission network to its destination to serve local communities and keep the lights on everywhere. Continuous maintenance will be required over the operational life of the project which can be over 30 years. During this time a project can generate multiple megawatts to gigawatts of energy in service of its stakeholders.
